A total of £6.8 million has been allocated to the Interim Route Development Fund. This includes £1 million from Scottish Enterprise and £300,000 from Highlands and Islands Enterprise.

The exemption scheme will operate with effect from 1 April 2002. The Executive will announce the scheme's eligibility criteria, including the qualifying date for eligibility, shortly.
Childminders are currently regulated by local authorities under the Children Act 1989. As from 1 April 2002, the new Scottish Commission for the Regulation of Care will assume responsibility for the regulation and inspection of childminders under the Regulation of Care (Scotland) Act 2001.
