The provisions in respect of vulnerable adult witnesses in solemn cases are to be commenced on 1 April 2006. It is too early to comment on the impact of the new provisions, but prosecutors report that, because the processes that are now in place are much more streamlined, special measures for children can be obtained more rapidly.
