Police Powers (DNA Profiles) To ask the Scottish Executive what impact the new powers to retain DNA will have on the detection of crime in communities. (S2O-11618) Since 1 January, the police have been able to retain for up to three years the DNA profiles of those who have been accused of sexual or violent offences.
