Local Government, Housing and Planning Committee: Pre-budget scrutiny 2022-23
I am writing to provide a response to the points set out in your letter of 26 October concerning the 2022-23 Scottish Budget.
The approach that I have been suggesting throughout stage 2 is one that illustrates the effectiveness of the parliamentary process. We are not seeking to score points but working together to get the best outcome.
As I mentioned, approximately 1,000 women in the UK die each month due to secondary breast cancer, with an estimated 4,000 people in Scotland impacted by it.
There was a programme of college mergers, which moved the sector from 40-plus colleges to the 26 that we have today operating in 13 regions: 10 single colleges and three multicollege regions.
However, the current wording of the Bill does not seem to allow for it, despite it being given as an example. This was the quite specific point I was trying to make, and I do not wish this point to be extrapolated any further.
