The fact that "producer" is not defined—or rather, that its definition becomes very wide on page 2 of the Executive's letter—is an important point about which we should ask. If there are no further comments, is the committee happy to obtain clarification on the points that Phil Gallie and Keith Raffan have made?
We could also seek clarification from the Executive about the point that Dr Gilbert raises in point 1 of his letter, concerning the impact on other specialties.
If someone who has expertise in the field writes up the response, that gives us a head start. That is the best starting point from which to make our own adjustments.
Volunteer Development Scotland endorses all that has been said, but I will pick up on a couple of points. Margaret Wilson made a point about payment of trustees.

To ask the Scottish Executive what proportion of prisoners are drug users upon entry to prison and are considered to remain so at the point of release. I have asked Tony Cameron,Chief Executive of the Scottish Prison Service (SPS) to respond.
