Supported by: Margaret Mitchell*, Liz Smith*, Michelle Ballantyne*, Peter Chapman* *S5M-17919 Neil Findlay: Eye Health Checks for Chernobyl Children—That the Parliament welcomes the efforts by Specsavers in Livingston to provide children from Belarus, who are still affected by the Chernobyl nuclear disaster, with free eye health checks; understands that a group of 22 who are visiting West Lothian on a four week holiday, which has been organised by the charity, Chernobyl Children’s Life Line, have received a new pair of glasses in addition to their check-up; acknowledges that they still live in an area affected by the 1986 explosion, which has had a serious impact on their general health and wellbeing; notes that it is estimated that this holiday will help boost their immune systems by two years and assist with their recovery from serious ailments, and commends everyone involved in welcoming the children on their short stay to the West Lothian area.
