The committee will be well aware that the veterinary profession is the protector of animal welfare. Under new animal welfare legislation, we all have a duty of care to look after every single animal that is in captivity.

This raises questions regarding arrangements for scrutiny of both the primary legislation implementing the agreement and the subsequent legislation (most likely secondary) required to comply with the new obligations for dynamic regulatory alignment of the UK with the EU.
