The Strategic Transport Projects Review (STPR) recommends major upgrades to the A96, including 2+1 sections, climbing lanes and overtaking lay-bys, local realignments/junction improvements, upgrading to dual carriageway between Inverness and Nairn, a bypass of Nairn and a new Inveramsay Bridge. The detailed design and development of the new Inveramsay Bridge to remove the shuttleworking section will be taken forward in the context of these upgrades to the A96.
