We could have marshalled as good a case about prison overcrowding in Scotland as has been marshalled in the Carter review about prison overcrowding in England.In our spending review, we took decisions to invest in the prison estate by increasing capital allocations to the Scottish Prison Service, which will allow us to afford the construction not only of the new-build prison at Bishopbriggs but of the new prison in the north-east of Scotland at Peterhead.
