There are often two ways of looking at a situation. A perfect case in point is protected areas management. We could point out that, as the RSPB has highlighted, one fifth of our best sites for nature are in an unfavourable condition.
For this evidence-taking session, I ask members to keep their questions short, sharp and to the point. Equally, our two witnesses need not feel that they must answer every question that is put to them; they should decide who is best placed to do so.
Some members have concerns, to the point of one member wanting to annul the instrument, but we are now in a position where it is already on the website.
