The Scottish Government's latest Children’s social work statistics published in March 2021 show there were 1,436 children and young people in residential accommodation in 2020; a very slight fall on the 2010 figure of 1,480.

Successive budgets within the current parliamentary session have prioritised expenditure to support economic growth, including business growth and the jobs they generate.In terms of ensuring people have the skills for jobs of the future, our 2025-26 Scottish budget allocates over £2 billion for colleges, universities, and the wider skills system, prioritizing support for students and ensuring access to education.
