Instead of long-grassing the matter, convener—with all due respect—we should discuss it in the context of our future work programme. Two or three of us have suggested that this parliamentary committee ought not to send a signal that it will ignore the fish farming industry.
The vessels will also be available for future contracts in the next tendering exercise under the tripartite agreement that is part of the contract documents.
The committee is meeting later this week to consider timetabling arrangements and future business informally. If we cannot resolve the issue then, perhaps we should put it on the agenda for next week's meeting.
It would be worth examining that in the future. I agree. I do not think that we need to add this to the priority issues, but the committee will need to consider and, if necessary, act on it, before the first member's bill comes before Parliament.
