The Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2016 introduced Modern Limited Duration Tenancies (minimum of 10 years, replacing Limited Duration Tenancies) to try to address the decline in agricultural tenancies by offering new types of tenancy that might be more appealing to landlords, while still providing a degree of security for tenants.
Part 2 of the Act provides social landlords with new grounds to apply to the court for an order which, if granted, will have the effect of enabling the landlord to transfer a tenancy to a victim/survivor.
