We believe that our chessmen should be held in the country in which they were discovered.I discussed the chessmen when I visited the British Museum in January this year, but have been disappointed by its apparent lack of responsiveness to continuing that dialogue.

I am finding those opinions useful in drawing up the Government's international strategic framework, which will set out how we will pursue sustainable economic growth by promoting Scotland as a great place to live, learn, visit, work, do business and invest. I welcome that framework and the opportunity to showcase Scottish culture in other lands.

Some newspaper reports advised people not to visit surgeries. That might be correct in general terms, but I am sure that the First Minister agrees that misunderstanding of the message could lead to serious consequences for young and elderly people, for whom dehydration could be a serious issue.

The Barnett formula does not adjust to changes in reserved taxation but allocates to Scotland a population share of net changes in expenditure on comparable spending programmes in England.
