Supported by: Paul Sweeney*, Sharon Dowey* *S6M-13335 Michael Matheson: Dunipace FC Champions of East of Scotland First Division —That the Parliament celebrates the achievement of Dunipace FC in winning the East of Scotland Football League First Division and gaining promotion to the Premier Division; notes that the community-based team has grown in recent years, both at senior level, winning its first league title since 1999, and as a club that is embedded in the local community with all of the committee, management team, and the vast majority of the players hailing from Denny and Dunipace or nearby villages and towns; acknowledges that the club now comprises of some 26 teams ranging in age from pre-school through the successful pyramid system to senior level; notes that, in addition to this achievement, Dunipace Ladies FC also won the Scottish Women's Football League (SWFL) West League and gained promotion to League One of Scottish Women’s Football, which, it believes, is a remarkable achievement given that this is only its third season; considers that credit needs to go to the managers of both teams, Danny Smith, Gillian Lynn, and their coaching teams, to the small but dedicated committee and the three major sponsors, Gordon Binnie of Fankerton Contracts, Martin Shaw of Alltruck and Dan Wharton of LOC Hire, and recognises what it sees as the loyal and dedicated supporters who have followed the Pace through the years.
