Aberdeenshire Council has in excess of 220 burial grounds under its management and control, all of which are regularly inspected by Council staff and frequently visited by members of the public. Whilst ownership and maintenance responsibilities for memorials sits with individual lair holders, the Council has a duty of care to ensure these are safe places to work in and visit.
