PCS union said—
Change of brand and logo at huge cost when budgets are under extreme pressure would be received badly by FC [Forestry Commission] staff and the public, and may lead to reputational damage for SG [Scottish Government] and FC.1PCS. (2017, August).
Stakeholders also advocated that the role of 'forester' should be officially recognised within the Civil Service to ensure that the current expertise and professionalism of the FCS is retained and valued.
Firstly, UK secondary legislation will be required under the Scotland Act 1998, to wind up the FC as a cross-border public authority and to provide certain powers to the Scottish Ministers in currently reserved areas; to enable UK-wide arrangements with the UK and Welsh Governments in the area of forestry; and to make arrangements for transferring some of the FC’s property and staff to the Scottish Ministers.
Official status for Gaelic and Scots
Sections 1 and 26 of the Bill declare that Gaelic and Scots have official status in Scotland, within certain circumstances.
