That the Parliament congratulates Morag Dunbar on being inducted into the Scottish Traditional Music Hall of Fame, which acknowledges the dedication of musicians and singers who have supported and influenced Scottish traditional music; notes that Morag’s love of folk music started in Kirkcaldy in the 1960s in the Elbow Room Lounge Bar, a firm fixture on the Scottish folk circuit; understands that Morag’s interest continued as she moved to university and joined the University of Edinburgh folk club, and began guitar lessons and started her performing career both playing and singing; understands that Morag was a founding member of The Heretics, which aimed to promote the poetry and music of Scotland’s living tradition in a relaxed and convivial setting; notes that, on moving in the 1970s to Balerno, Morag was instrumental in establishing music nights in the Grey Horse; understands that, as a founding member, Morag has been involved in running Balerno Folk Club for more than four decades, alongside a dedicated committee of volunteers; recognises that, as well as the regular monthly programme, since 2008 the club has been a partner of the Balerno Music Festival, and wishes Morag all the best with her continuing passion for Scottish folk music.
