That the Parliament notes with sadness the passing of the Scottish Opera stalwart, Lady Veronica Gibson; further notes with admiration the way in which Lady Gibson has been a constant presence within Scottish Opera since its inception in 1962 when it was founded by her late husband, Motherwell-born, Sir Alexander Gibson; understands that in Scottish Opera’s early era, Lady Gibson would host singers, make costumes and source props for its productions; notes that Lady Gibson maintained her involvement after the death of her husband, Scottish Opera’s long-time music director, in 1995, and was appointed President of Scottish Opera on 20 September 2013; praises Lady Gibson for what it sees as her stellar work, and offers its condolences to her family, friends, and colleagues in the wake of her passing.
