AUDE Covid Heroes Campaign

  • Submitted by: Kaukab Stewart, Glasgow Kelvin, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Friday, 05 November 2021
  • Motion reference: S6M-01955

That the Parliament congratulates the Covid Heroes campaign, which is run by the Association of University Directors of Estates (AUDE); understands that it seeks to thank the estates and facilities teams in Scotland's universities; believes that the publicly-visible research and teaching that is carried out at these institutions is of the highest standard, and that this environment for success would not be possible without the contribution of those who work behind the scenes; acknowledges that, without this support, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, universities would have been forced to close; understands that those in these support roles are often the unsung heroes and takes this opportunity to thank the cleaners who volunteered to learn the latest in NHS anti-COVID best practice to keep campuses safe, the security officers who have provided a reassuring presence to students and staff alike, the student support officers who made food and laundry deliveries to students in isolation, the porters who worked long hours to reconfigure classroom layouts to allow for social distancing and many others, and wishes AUDE every success with this campaign and its ongoing efforts to recognise the valuable contribution of the university estate teams.
