Tennent Caledonian and SEPA Sustainability Agreement

  • Submitted by: Paul Sweeney, Glasgow, Scottish Labour.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 13 October 2021
  • Motion reference: S6M-01618

That the Parliament congratulates Tennent Caledonian and SEPA on their new sustainability agreement; acknowledges the positive commitments made by the brewery as part of the agreement, including the transfer of all single-use plastic from its packaging to cardboard, which it believes will remove approximately 150 tonnes of plastic from the environment per year; further acknowledges the plans to ensure that all electricity at Wellpark Brewery in Glasgow and across Tennent’s distribution network comes from renewable energy sources; recognises Tennent’s record in increasing sustainability prior to the agreement, including the installation of the largest carbon capture facility in 2020, which it believes has made the brewery 95% self-sufficient in CO2; further recognises the facilitation of a series of "pint and a plan" workshops, which aim to engage the public in climate advocacy and action, and acknowledges what it sees as both Tennent and SEPA's progressive climate commitments in the lead up to COP26.
