Opening of Hamiltonhill Claypits Local Nature Reserve

That the Parliament congratulates the Glasgow Canal Project, led by Scottish Canals, and their partners, Glasgow City Council, Sustrans, SNH, Claypits Local Nature Reserve Management Group, Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership and Friends of Possilpark Greenspace, on the opening of the Hamiltonhill Claypits Local Nature Reserve in north Glasgow on 31 July 2021; notes the immense achievement of local volunteers working with Scottish Canals, LDN Architects, LUC (Land Use Consultants), Kevin Murray Associates and Mackenzie Construction in revitalising a former clay quarry, dating from the late 1700s, into a new local nature reserve; acknowledges the wonderful contribution that this makes to the local community and all of Glasgow in times when greenspaces are more important than ever; congratulates everyone involved on delivering a fantastic opening event, and commends all those who invested their time and effort to deliver this project and create a legacy for future generations.
