Carers Week 2021

  • Submitted by: Pam Duncan-Glancy, Glasgow, Scottish Labour.
  • Date lodged: Monday, 07 June 2021
  • Motion reference: S6M-00260

That the Parliament welcomes Carers Week, which takes place between 7 and 13 June 2021; recognises that the week is an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, to highlight the challenges that unpaid carers face and to recognise the contribution that carers make to families and communities across Scotland; recognises that carers continue to face new challenges as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has seen many people take on more caring responsibilities for friends and family members who require support; commends the work of Scotland’s estimated 788,000 carers; notes the impact of caring on all aspects of life, and the increased difficulties carers have faced throughout the past year, and supports the ambition of the Carers Week campaign to "make caring visible."
