That the Parliament commends the work of Water Safety Scotland and its campaign, Respect the Water; notes with concern the figures provided by it recording that there are 97 water-related fatalities on average annually and that this trend has increased in recent years; recognises the enjoyment and benefit of water sports and activities to physical and mental health wellbeing, and, as the COVID-19 restrictions ease, welcomes efforts to promote water safety policies across the country to ensure a safe and enjoyable summer around the mainland and island coastlines and on beaches and rivers.
