  • Submitted by: Elena Whitham, Carrick, Cumnock and Doon Valley, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 02 June 2021
  • Motion reference: S6M-00215

That the Parliament commends the hard work and successes of the Business Creation Project, which has just completed its first pilot in New Cumnock; understands that the project, delivered by Women’s Enterprise Scotland (WES) and Development Trusts Association Scotland (DTAS), was originally run in three targeted rural areas, over a 10-week period, with weekly sessions held virtually with a working cohort of around 30 women providing women with the confidence and information they require at the beginning of their business start-up journey; notes that the course was delivered in partnership with New Cumnock Development Trust providing local women with strategic advice, including on business planning, attracting customers, pricing and managing finances, as well as space to inspire, motivate and equip women for their journey into business, and providing networking opportunities with women from across Scotland, and wishes everyone who took part in the Business Creation Project well for their future business journeys.
