That the Parliament commends Linda and Andrew Meiklejohn of the Castle Hotel, Huntly, for their generous community spirit after putting up 28 stranded travellers free of charge; understands that the A96 was closed between Huntly and Inverurie on 13 February 2021 due to severe snow conditions, which left people stuck in a car park during the freezing cold weather; recognises that Linda and Andrew came to the rescue after the closure was announced to last overnight, with community-wide support from the police, Aberdeenshire Council, the Community Offroad Transport Action Group, the local COVID-19 Huntly and District Volunteer Group and the Aberdeenshire North food bank; expresses its thanks to everyone involved for working together to help keep people safe, and celebrates the kindness of the local community.
