That the Parliament congratulates the former West Lothian College Project Search student, Colin McGill, who is from Livingston, on winning the Young Achiever Award at the Scottish Health Awards on 9 December 2020; notes that this award recognises young staff across NHS Scotland who show initiative, drive and excellent judgement in their work to achieve exceptional results; understands that, in the years prior to joining the Project Search course, Colin struggled to gain employment; commends him on gaining the qualifications and life skills that enabled him to secure a permanent job as a porter at St John’s Hospital; acknowledges that Colin’s commitment, determination and hard work have made a big impression on his employer, and recognises the ongoing, very successful partnership between the college, NHS Lothian and West Lothian Council’s Supported Employment team to deliver Project Search.
