  • Submitted by: Jack Middleton, Aberdeen Central, Scottish National Party
  • Date lodged: Monday, 02 November 2026
  • Motion type: Standard Motion
  • Motion reference: S7M-01849

That the Parliament welcomes the news that Aberdeen-based hydrogen partnership, TH2ISTLE, is set to receive €9 million in funding; understands that the funding will be used for the development of Scotland's first mainland Small Hydrogen Valley, supporting the energy transition towards clean hydrogen in sectors where electrification has proven to be particularly challenging; further understands that the goals of the project will be achieved through the deployment of hydrogen production, distribution and refuelling infrastructure; congratulates the work being done by the team behind the TH2ISTLE project, made up of 28 universities, industry leaders and economic development agencies from across the globe; acknowledges the use of hydrogen within Scotland's energy mix as a low carbon alternative to traditional forms of energy production; thanks the European Union for the provision of the €9 million, without which, it understands, the project would not exist, and wishes the team well as it accomplishes its goals of promoting hydrogen across the North East of Scotland.
