Congratulations to Inverurie Scotland’s Town of the Year and North East High Street Hero Derek Ritchie

That the Parliament congratulates Inverurie on being named Scotland’s Town of the Year 2026 at the Scotland Loves Local Awards and Derek Ritchie, who is the manager of We Are Inverurie Business Improvement District (BID), on being named High Street Hero for North East Scotland; recognises that these awards celebrate the dedication of local businesses, residents, volunteers and community organisations in making Inverurie a thriving and welcoming town; commends Derek for his work supporting local traders, strengthening the town centre and bringing people and organisations together; acknowledges the importance of Inverurie’s independent businesses, community events and strong partnerships in supporting the local economy and attracting visitors; celebrates the collective effort that has helped Inverurie flourish as a place to live, work, shop and visit, and wishes Derek and the whole Inverurie community continued success.
