Derek Ritchie of We Are Inverurie BID Recognised as a 2026 High Street Hero

That the Parliament congratulates Derek Ritchie, manager of We Are Inverurie Business Improvement District (BID), on being recognised as a 2026 High Street Hero for North East Scotland at the Scotland Loves Local Awards; recognises the award as a fitting tribute to his dedication to strengthening Inverurie’s town centre and supporting its local economy; commends his work in championing local businesses, supporting major events, helping secure funding, bringing organisations together and advocating on issues affecting the town; acknowledges his additional roles as a trustee of Inverurie Events and Evolving Inverurie, which demonstrate his commitment to collaboration and community-led progress; recognises the important contribution made by Derek and his colleagues in helping Inverurie to thrive as a vibrant destination in which to live, work, shop and visit; celebrates the collective efforts of local businesses, community organisations and volunteers in strengthening the town’s future, and wishes Derek continued success in his work supporting Inverurie and the wider Garioch community.
