That the Parliament congratulates NHS Scotland Academy on reaching its fifth anniversary; understands that the Academy was established through a partnership between NHS Golden Jubilee and NHS Education for Scotland, to support Scotland’s healthcare workforce through education, training and professional development; believes that the National Endoscopy Training Programme has trained more than 1,150 healthcare professionals and helped to avoid around 2,000 repeat patient appointments and the National Ultrasound Training Programme has delivered more than 29,000 examinations for over 24,000 patients while supporting the training of sonographers and diagnostic specialists; welcomes the Academy’s work to expand specialist theatre workforces, including increasing the Surgical First Assistant workforce nationally from 19 to 47 practitioners and reducing training times; recognises what it sees as the important contribution that innovative workforce development can make to strengthening NHS services, improving capacity and supporting high-quality patient care, and wishes everyone involved with NHS Scotland Academy continued success for the future.
