  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 21 October 2026
  • Motion type: Standard Motion
  • Motion reference: S7M-01679

That the Parliament congratulates Abbeycare Scotland on the 20th anniversary of its establishment in 2006; understands that Abbeycare began as a small, six-bed recovery retreat for individuals with alcohol problems; notes that it was based at Brownhill House in North Ayrshire and relocated to its current premises at the purpose-built Erskine Mains House in Erskine, Renfrewshire in 2021; recognises that the organisation has grown significantly over the last two decades into a multidisciplinary service that now employs more than 130 staff across its clinics in Scotland and Gloucester; commends Abbeycare's dedicated teams of recovery practitioners, therapists and clinicians for providing a specialist, high-quality residential abstinence-based service; praises the organisation for using proven techniques to help people address the physical, psychological and emotional implications of addiction, which has helped thousands of individuals with substance use issues enter long-term recovery, and wishes Abbeycare Scotland, its staff and its clients the very best for the future as it continues its vital work in supporting people to begin new lives in active recovery.
