St Cuthbert’s Way Earns Global Recognition

That the Parliament congratulates St Cuthbert’s Way on being named in Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel 2027; understands that the historic 100-kilometre pilgrimage route is the only UK entry among the 50 destinations and travel experiences selected worldwide for the 2027 list; notes that the route begins in Melrose and travels through the Scottish Borders and Northumberland before finishing on Holy Island, Lindisfarne; further notes that sections of the route pass through the Ettrick, Roxburgh and Berwickshire constituency, including Yetholm and the surrounding Roxburghshire countryside; recognises what it sees as the important contribution that St Cuthbert’s Way makes to the visitor economy in rural communities along the route, supporting accommodation providers, hospitality businesses and other local enterprises; acknowledges the route’s rich history and cultural heritage and its association with St Cuthbert; considers that this international recognition provides an opportunity to showcase the landscape, heritage and communities of the Scottish Borders to visitors from across the UK and around the world; commends all those involved in maintaining, promoting and supporting St Cuthbert’s Way, and wishes the communities and businesses along the route continued success in welcoming visitors to the area.
