  • Submitted by: Jackie Dunbar, Aberdeen Donside, Scottish National Party

  • Motion reference: S7M-01352

That the Parliament welcomes the announcement that Adura’s Girl’s in Energy Programme has welcomed its latest cohort of 284 students from 18 schools across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire; understands that the programme, which is now in its 16th year, is a year-long programme designed to encourage more young women to consider careers in engineering and the wider energy industry; notes that the programme is delivered in partnership with North East Scotland College (NESCol), giving students direct access to employers, role models and real-world insight into the breadth of opportunities available across the sector; recognises that the continued growth of Girls in Energy reflects the importance of sustained investment in skills and education, particularly as the North East prepares to support both its established energy industries and the opportunities presented by the wider energy transition; believes that throughout the 2026-27 academic year, students will take part in workshops, industry talks and site visits, helping them to build confidence, develop practical skills and gain a greater understanding of future career opportunities that are available to them; commends the efforts of all involved in organising and delivering the programme, and wishes all participants in the programme all the best going forward.
