That the Parliament congratulates Glasgow restaurateur, Satty Singh, on his appointment as Honorary Colonel of the 52nd (Lowland) Support and Signal Squadron, part of the 32nd Signal Regiment of the Royal Corps of Signals, based at the Jardine Street Army Reserve Centre in Kelvinside, Glasgow; notes that the squadron provides tactical communications and support to NATO's Allied Rapid Reaction Corps; recognises Satty Singh's decades of dedication to Glasgow's business community, having opened Mister Singh's India in Charing Cross in 1994, as well as his long-standing support for Armed Forces charities, including the Army Cadets and SSAFA; understands that this appointment was timed to coincide with Saragarhi Day, which marks the extraordinary courage of the 36th Sikh Regiment, who, in 1897, held the Saragarhi post against overwhelming odds in a story of sacrifice and duty that continues to inspire; welcomes his stated intention to use this honorary role to strengthen links with Commonwealth and minority communities and to promote awareness of Army Reserve and Cadet opportunities; celebrates the significance of a proud son of Glasgow taking on this distinguished role; commends Satty Singh as a fine example of community leadership, and wishes him every success in his new role.
