Selkirk Mother and Daughter Katie and Hannah Francis Complete John O’Groats to Land’s End Charity Challenge

That the Parliament congratulates Selkirk mother and daughter, Katie and Hannah Francis, on successfully running the length of Great Britain from John O’Groats to Land’s End in just 26 days; understands that Katie, who was raised on her family farm at Whitmuir, Selkirk, and now farms in the Scottish Borders, completed the challenge alongside her 20-year-old daughter Hannah, who is studying at the Scotland College of Chiropractic in Edinburgh; notes that the pair set off from John O’Groats on 4 August 2026 and covered around 1,300 km on their journey south; understands that they undertook the challenge to raise funds for three causes close to their hearts, Farmstrong Scotland, Tariro UK and the Scotland College of Chiropractic; notes that Tariro, which means “hope” in the Shona language, supports young people in need in Zimbabwe through education and practical support; understands that Katie and Hannah wished to give back to a profession that they say supported them through training, injuries and preparation for their challenge, while also supporting the education of the next generation of chiropractors; recognises in particular Katie’s connection to the Borders farming community and the important work of Farmstrong Scotland in supporting the wellbeing of farmers and crofters, including addressing the isolation and pressures that can accompany life in agriculture; commends Katie and Hannah for their  considerable determination and resilience to complete such an endurance challenge and for using their achievement to raise funds and awareness for these three causes, and congratulates them on this remarkable achievement.
