Congratulations to Torness Runners

That the Parliament congratulates the 43 Torness Power Station staff members who ran nearly 2,500 kilometres to raise money for Alzheimer Scotland; understands that runners signed up to complete either a 5km or 7km loop on the hour every hour from 8 am to 8 pm as part of a gruelling challenge for World Alzheimer's Month; notes that the team has raised more than £6,700 for the charity, having smashed its initial target of £2,500; further notes that more than 90,000 people in Scotland are living with dementia, with thousands more supporting and caring for those who have the condition; recognises the importance of the long-term partnership between EDF and Alzheimer Scotland, which is improving the lives of people living with dementia across the country; commends participants for their commitment, generosity and enthusiasm in rising to the challenge, and thanks all of those who donated money, which, it understands, will contribute to funding vital national prevention programmes, research, resource centres and the 24-hour dementia helpline.
