Alva Academy Raises £750,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support

That the Parliament congratulates the pupils, staff and wider school community of Alva Academy on raising more than £750,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support since beginning its fundraising efforts in 2001; understands that, each year, sixth-year pupils lead a month-long programme of activities, including sponsored treks, cycle rides, duck races and bag packing, culminating in a major community coffee morning; recognises the dedication of the staff team that supports the pupils and the invaluable contribution made by families, local businesses and the wider community; believes that this remarkable 25-year fundraising partnership demonstrates community spirit at its very best; acknowledges the vital difference that the funds raised will make to people living with cancer and their families; recognises the warmth, hope and sense of togetherness that the school’s fundraising brings to the local community, and commends everyone who has contributed to this outstanding achievement.
