Congratulating Hawick High School on its Macmillan Coffee Morning

That the Parliament congratulates the Barista class and Home Economics Department at Hawick High School on organising a Macmillan Coffee Morning, which will take place at Buccleuch Halls on 25 September 2026; understands that the event will bring together pupils, staff and members of the local community to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support; recognises that 25 September is the official date of Macmillan’s Coffee Morning in 2026; notes that Macmillan Coffee Morning began in 1990 and has since grown into a major annual fundraising event involving communities, schools, workplaces and families across the UK; understands that funds raised through coffee mornings help Macmillan provide practical, emotional and financial support to people living with cancer; commends the pupils involved in the Barista class for putting their skills into practice while supporting a charitable cause; recognises the work of the Home Economics Department and staff at Hawick High School in supporting the pupils to organise the event; believes that initiatives such as this provide young people with valuable opportunities to develop teamwork, hospitality, organisation and community engagement skills; welcomes the contribution that the event will make to the long tradition of community fundraising for Macmillan Cancer Support; thanks everyone who will attend, donate, volunteer, bake and otherwise contribute to the success of the morning, and wishes the Barista class, the Home Economics Department and the wider Hawick High School community every success with the event and their fundraising efforts.
