Honouring the Volunteers of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI)

That the Parliament commends the selfless dedication, bravery and humanitarian service of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) across Scotland and the UK; recognises that the RNLI operates in accordance with international maritime law and the humanitarian duty to save lives at sea without judgment, distinction or political bias; highlights what it sees as the indispensable role played by local RNLI crews, many of whom are volunteers, in safeguarding coastal communities throughout Scotland, including the RNLI Kinghorn Lifeboat Station, which serves the Kirkcaldy constituency; condemns in the strongest terms reports of RNLI volunteers being harassed and vilified by far right activists; considers that targeting emergency service workers and volunteers carrying out life-saving duties undermines basic human decency and degrades public discourse, and notes the calls on all political parties to reject the politicisation of life-saving charities, to condemn abuse directed at lifeboat crews and to offer their full, unequivocal support to the RNLI.
