That the Parliament recognises the remarkable contribution of the Children First Selkirk Action Group as its members retire after 70 years of fundraising; understands that, since the 1950s, the group has raised £73,200 to support the work of Scotland’s national children’s charity, Children First; notes that its fundraising activities over the decades have included events, raffles and operating a thrift shop; recognises the contribution of current members, Cliff Ellershaw, Shenagh Ellershaw, Gillian Inglis, Doris Kellet, Marion Oxnard and Liz Thomson, who together represent almost 200 years of fundraising experience; understands that chair Gillian Inglis first became involved with the group as a child alongside her mother and has been involved for almost 70 years, while treasurer Cliff Ellershaw joined in the 1970s; believes that the group represents an outstanding example of long-term volunteering and community spirit in Selkirk; thanks all current and former members, as well as the wider Selkirk community, for their support over seven decades, and wishes the members of the group well following their retirement from fundraising.
