  • Date lodged: Thursday, 03 September 2026
  • Motion type: Standard Motion
  • Motion reference: S7M-01048

That the Parliament congratulates the pupils, teachers and staff of primary schools across North Lanarkshire on their outstanding achievements in The Sunday Times Primary School League Table 2026; notes that four North Lanarkshire schools ranked among Scotland’s top 10, including Tannochside Primary School in Viewpark, and recognises the achievements of Aitkenhead Primary School in Tannochside and other high-performing schools across the area; believes that this success is evidence of the progress being made in education under the SNP Government, including record-high levels of literacy and numeracy and the highest spend per pupil in the UK and the lowest teacher-pupil ratio; welcomes the continued commitment in the Programme for Government 2026-31 to investing in children and young people and improving educational outcomes, and commends school communities across North Lanarkshire for their hard work and dedication.
