That the Parliament welcomes the launch of Engender’s report, Part of the Job? Women councillors' experiences of sexism, misogyny and gender-based violence in Scottish Councils; notes with concern that 90% of women councillors surveyed have experienced at least one form of sexism, misogyny or gender-based violence during their political career; understands that this violence contributes to consistently low levels of women’s political representation; considers the importance of all MSPs challenging sexism, misogyny and other forms of discrimination in politics to ensure everyone can participate equally and safely, and notes calls on the Scottish Government to take urgent action ahead of the 2027 local elections to improve women’s safety in Scottish politics.
