Action on Homelessness in Scotland

That the Parliament notes with concern the Scottish Government's homelessness statistics, Homelessness in Scotland: 2024-25 and associated data, which states that 34,067 households are assessed as homeless across Scotland, including 8,445 applications in Glasgow, and that 16,634 households are living in temporary accommodation; notes reports that four people died while rough sleeping in Glasgow during the past year, underlining the tragic human cost of homelessness; acknowledges Andy Burnham’s reported announcement of £340 million of funding to tackle rough sleeping in England and understands that this is expected to generate Barnett consequential funding for Scotland; believes that any additional funding should be directed towards preventing homelessness, reducing the use of temporary accommodation, increasing the supply of suitable permanent housing and supporting frontline homelessness services, and calls on the Scottish Government to provide the Scottish Parliament with full transparency on how any Barnett consequential funding arising from this commitment will be allocated and utilised.
