Refugee Festival Scotland 2026

That the Parliament welcomes The Odyssey: A Journey to the Self, a sculptural exhibition by Ukrainian-born and Wishaw-based artist, Alena Bezushko, which is being showcased at Glasgow’s Civic House as part of Refugee Festival Scotland; recognises the exhibition’s use of ceramic, clay, burnt wood, metal and light to explore themes of humanity, resilience, empathy and human connection; notes that the work aims to break down barriers and highlight the shared experiences that connect people across cultures and backgrounds; recognises Refugee Festival Scotland as a nationwide annual festival celebrating the creativity, resilience and contributions of refugees and people seeking sanctuary, bringing together communities through a diverse programme of arts, culture, music, film, talks and community events; acknowledges its role in promoting understanding, inclusion and solidarity across Scotland, and celebrates the contribution of refugee and migrant artists to Scotland’s cultural life, enriching communities through creativity and shared understanding.
