That the Parliament recognises the importance of rail connectivity to the economic and social wellbeing of communities across the north east of Scotland; notes the work of the Campaign for North East Rail (CNER) in promoting the case for enhanced rail infrastructure and services across the region; acknowledges calls for the re-railing of the north east; recognises that new rail networks would allow for economic growth, tourism, freight movement, access to employment and education and regional development; notes the importance of reliable transport links for coastal and rural communities; recognises the potential role of rail in improving community resilience, reducing pressure on key road networks and making roads safer, and welcomes continued engagement by communities, businesses, transport bodies and policymakers on opportunities to strengthen rail connectivity across the north east of Scotland.
