  • Motion type: Standard Motion
  • Motion reference: S7M-00226

That the Parliament congratulates the Scotland men’s national football team on their 4–1 victory over Curaçao at Hampden Park on 30 May 2026, in what was their final match on home soil ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup; notes that the team came from behind to secure a convincing win against 10-man opposition, with goals from Findlay Curtis, Lawrence Shankland and Ryan Christie; recognises the significance of Curtis scoring his first international goal for Scotland; welcomes what it sees as the pride and excitement that performances such as this generate in communities across the country, including in East Lothian, where many supporters will be following the national team’s progress; considers this result to be a strong and morale-boosting performance in Scotland’s World Cup send-off match; acknowledges that the squad has now travelled to the United States to begin their training preparations for the World Cup, and wishes the team every success as they prepare to represent Scotland on the global stage.
