That the Parliament congratulates Dalbeattie Community Initiative on the success of the Rocks and Wheels regeneration project at the site of the former Dalbeattie Primary School; commends Ian Wilbur, chairperson, and Michelle McRobert, chief executive officer, for their leadership and commitment in bringing the project to this stage; notes that the £7.8 million redevelopment is transforming the former school into a major community and visitor hub, with cycling and bouldering facilities, accommodation, cafe and refectory space as well as flexible rooms for community, training and business use; further notes that the Rocks and Wheels project includes what is understood to be Scotland's second biggest pump track and will host a UCI Pump Track World Championship Qualifier on 14 June 2026; acknowledges what it sees as the vital support of the UK Government, Dumfries and Galloway Council, South of Scotland Enterprise, sportscotland, the Scottish Government's Place Based Investment Programme, the National Lottery and The Holywood Trust in helping to bring the project forward; recognises the importance of the project in returning a long-derelict local landmark to public use, which, it believes will strengthen Dalbeattie's role as a gateway to the 7stanes trail network and Dalbeattie Town Wood; believes that this will not only create opportunities for training, employment and volunteering but also support local tourism, town centre footfall and the wider outdoor economy and ensure that income generated by the centre will be reinvested in the local community, and recognises the health, wellbeing and community pride benefits that the project is expected to bring to Dalbeattie and the wider south of Scotland.
