That the Parliament recognises what it sees as the significant and growing contribution of green jobs and businesses to Scotland’s economy, including reports that the sector contributes approximately £10.2 billion annually and supports thousands of businesses to transition to low-carbon and sustainable practices; acknowledges the importance of these industries to local economies, including in East Lothian, where green enterprise, renewable energy activity and associated supply chains are increasingly important drivers of employment, skills and regional growth; notes the role of small and medium-sized enterprises in delivering innovation and supporting Scotland’s net zero ambitions; recognises the importance of investment in skills, training and apprenticeships to ensure that Scotland’s workforce can access opportunities in the green economy, including in emerging technologies and energy sectors; believes that there is a need for a just transition that supports workers, communities and businesses as Scotland moves towards net zero, and notes the calls for the Scottish Government to continue to prioritise policies that support the expansion of green industries, including targeted support for local companies, investment in infrastructure, support for skills development and measures to ensure that the economic benefits of the green transition are felt across all parts of Scotland, including constituencies such as East Lothian Coast and Lammermuirs.
