That the Parliament recognises that 21 March 2026 is World Down Syndrome Day; understands that the theme of the day is #TogetherAgainstLoneliness; notes that loneliness can be a common and painful experience for people with this condition or other intellectual disabilities, and notes the negative impact of loneliness on physical and mental health; welcomes the launch of Down’s Syndrome Scotland’s inclusive employment partnership programme, AIME (Accessible, Inclusive, Meaningful Employment), which aims to help people nationally with the condition find meaningful and fulfilling jobs, and believes that loneliness is a problem that people can and must solve together, by demonstrating real inclusion and fostering good friendships and relationships, to ensure that people with Down’s syndrome are valued and included with dignity and belonging.
